"Going Beyond the Limits of Knowledge to Limitless Imagination"
"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly ABOVE ALL THAT WE ASK OR THINK, ACCORDING TO THE POWER THAT WORKETH IN US". Ephesians 3:20 KJV (Capitals are mine for emphasis)
"For SHE (the woman with the issue of blood) SAID WITHIN HERSELF, if I may but touch his garment, I SHALL BE WHOLE". Matthew 9:21 KJV (Capitals are mine for emphasis)
"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited and the imagination can go on for infinity". Albert Einstein
THE DEFINITION OF KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge comes from the root word "noesis"--"to know". It is the psychological result of perception, learning and reasoning. Knowledge is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as expertise, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject; what is known in a particular field or in total; facts and information; or an awareness or familiarity gained by experience of a fact or situation.
HOW IMAGINATION IS DIFFERENT FROM KNOWLEDGE
On the other hand, imagination is defined as the formation of a mental image of something that is neither perceived as real nor present to the senses. It is an image which is formed in the mind, and the ability to form such images. Further, it is the ability to confront and deal with reality by using the creative power of the mind; resourcefulness; and handling challenges with great imagination.
SHE SAW HERSELF AS "COMPLETE AND WHOLE, FREE FROM HER DISEASE"
If we limit ourselves to what we know from the past and present we will be doomed to remain at the same level of achievement the rest of our lives. Our knowledge will "build a fence around our minds", and not let us go any farther. With "a sanctified imagination", we can "see ourselves in the future" as a different person. This is what happened with the woman who had been hemorrhaging blood for 12 years, and had exhausted all of her bank account on doctors, but to no avail. But "she said within herself" that if she could touch the hem of the garment of Jesus she would be made whole. She saw herself as "complete and whole, free from her disease".
LITTLE DID HE KNOW WHAT THE FUTURE HELD
The knowledge of the past "held her prisoner" to her disease and poverty. Her imagination, by using her faith to form a picture of wholeness in her mind, brought her a new life. Solomon came to the conclusion that "there is nothing new under the sun". What if everyone had that same attitude down through the centuries from that time to this? There would have been no modern inventions or instant communications around the world with just the click of a button. He thought he had seen it all. Little did he know what the future held.
THOSE WHO HAVE A HEALTHY IMAGINATION OF CREATIVITY HAVE "AN ACTIVE POWER WORKING WITHIN THEM" WHICH WILL EXCEED "ANYTHING WHICH THEY ARE ABLE TO CONCEIVE WITH THEIR MINDS"
The Holy Spirit has something greater and better for us than what we have previously experienced. But for those who feel that they have already "reached their best days", and everything from now on is downhill, are controlled by the realm of knowledge. Those who have a healthy imagination of creativity have "an active power working within them" which will exceed "anything which they are able to conceive with their minds". Let our knowledge be a firm foundation upon which we build our imagination for new breakthroughs in every area of our lives. That "power within us is God Himself".
